- In order to activate your Japan Rail Pass in Japan, you must bring the exchange order we provide. The Exchange Order is like a voucher that can be exchanged for a Japan Rail Pass and is a physical document that cannot be emailed or faxed or replaced if Lost. Japan Rail in Japan will only accept the original Exchange Order we send you as proof of purchase.
