Hi I would like to know if it’s cheaper to get a rail pass or buy tickets at the station for the following.
Arrive Nariata 24th January travel via nariata express to Tokyo, then Shinkansen to Yamagata.
Travel 1st February from Yamagata to Nagano via Omiya .
Travel 9th February from Nagano to Narita via
Are you able to give me approximate costs using passes and or individual purchased rail tickets

Unfortunately, I was not able to find any pass that would fit your itinerary. The JR East passes don't work as they only cover part of your trip and a 7 day JR Pass would not work as you travel more than 7 days.

You can use our JR Fare calculator to get an estimate of ticket prices for your itinerary and compare it with the cost of a JR Pass. One pass you can look at for travel to Kanazawa and back is the Hokuriku Arch Pass.
