Using JR Pass for Sanyo line

I have read through the forum and, being from outside Japan, I must admit to being more confused than before I began reading.

So, let me ask the question as straight forwardly as possible...

Can the JR pass be used for the Sanyo line? More specifically, can it be used for the bullet from Hiroshima to Tokyo and from Hiroshima to Osaka?

Which shinkansen exactly are excluded from the JR pass?

Thank you.

Hi there,

Yes and yes, the Sanyo line and the bullet trains on them are included.

Some train services are not included, these are the Nozomi and Mizuho Shinkansen.

You can use the Sakura and Hikari Shinkansen instead, the only difference is that these make a couple more stops on the way.

Kind regards,
Daniel
