I have JRPass and tried to use Hyperdia in order to plan itinerary. How can I make sure Hyperdia gives me trains covered by JRPass?

I click "Detail" and then I have to check/uncheck boxes, which of these should be unchecked:

  1. Airplane - obviously unchecked
  2. Airport bus - unchecked
  3. Shinkansen (bullet) (only NOZOMI, HAYABUSA, MIZUHO) - unchecked
  4. Shinkansen (bullet) (except NOZOMI, HAYABUSA, MIZUHO) - checked
  5. Limited Express - checked
  6. Express - checked
  7. Liner - checked
  8. Walk - checked (I know it is not a train)
  9. Sleeper L. Express - checked
  10. Sleeper Express - checked
  11. Local - checked
  12. Japan Railway (JR) - checked
  13. Provate Railway - unchecked.

So, if I press "Search" with these conditions - can I be sure I will not pay any additional fee if stick to the plan proposed by Hyperdia?

Hi there,

We have a blog post explaining the details here:
https://www.jrpass.com/blog/plan-with-the-hyperdia-online-timetable

Let me know if anything remains unclear :) In checked items you have are indeed correct, with one addition. If you travel north of Tokyo (to Tohoku and Hokkaid). Leave the option with Hayabusa on, as the Hayabusa Shinkansen is covered by the JR Pass.

Kind regards,
Daniel
