Good morning,

We are coming to Japan (2 adults, 4 kids ) on February 19th for one week. We want to visit to Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima ( and if time permits the Island of Itsukushima)

1) We arrived at 5 PM on the 19th. Do you think we have enough time to get to Kyoto with the bullet train? Or should we stay in Tokyo that night and leave the next day for Kyoto. If we stay in Tokyo, where should we stay to have easy access to the bullet train Station?

2) Is there a train from Kyoto to Hiroshima that is included in the JR PAss?

3) What is the best form of transportation to get to the island to Itsukushima?

Hello there,

1.) If would be possible to travel to Kyoto under normal circumstances. The last train connection from Narita Airport departs around 19:00 but you still want to play it save and stay near Narita Airport or Tokyo, as plane delays can happen. You can travel directly from Tokyo station to Kyoto using the Shinkansen.

2.) Yes, you can use the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Hiroshima. You will have one transfer at Shin-Osaka.

3.) You can use a local JR line from Hiroshima station to Miyajimaguchi and from there use the JR Ferry for free to Itsukushima using the JR Pass.
