I am looking to travel from Osaka airport to Nagasaki with a small group of foreigners from Australia around September.
Is it possible to travel direct to Nagasaki from Osaka on this rail pass?
Also how much would it cost per person return. And who long is the travel time.

For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included. You can use Hyperdia find the route on the day of travel, including transfers.
A return ticket is around 40,000yen per person. The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is 29,110yen.
