Hi there 3 of us (2 adults, one child) will be travelling in Japan during August. Arrive in Tokyo Haneda on 5/8, on to Kanazawa on 9/8, on to Miyajima on 12/8, day trip to Hiroshima 13/8, on to Kyoto 14/8 then fly to Ishigaki from Osaka on 18/8. Fly back to Tokyo Haneda on 22/8 then back to UK from Narita on 24/8. Is it better to buy a rail pass or separate tickets? Would we benefit from meet and greet. What do we need for local travel on the subway. Many Thanks. Also would we benefit from green car Travel.
Travel in Japan
Hi there,
I think a 7-day JR Pass for travel to Kanazawa - Miyajima - Hiroshima - Kyoto is a great fit. You can make very good savings on this route and the JR Pass will get you to all these places. After Osaka, you will mostly be flying, so I'd just stick to normal tickets from there.
JR Pass Meet and Greet is a good option for first time travellers to Japan and you want to be sure that everything is taken care off when you arrive. It's an extra service for convenience and peace of mind.
You can buy Metro Day tickets at any ticket machine in Tokyo. These are good value if you take 4 or more metro rides per day.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
