We finish a cruise in Tokyo and plan to travel from there to spend 4 days in Kyoto. We will use Kyoto as a base and do day trips to Hiroshima or Kanazawa or Okayama and explore some of those places during the day and the return to our base in Kyoto at the end of the day. I see that this is feasible with the frequency of the trains and the speed of the Shinkansen. We would then return to Tokyo to fly back home after 4 nights .What would be the best pass to purchase in terms of cost/ efficiency / multi use ? Do the trains go to the airport ?
I would appreciate your opinions and advice. Thank you
Anne

Hi Anne,
I recommend using a 7 Day JR Pass for your trip. This is the only pass that covers travel to Kyoto, Kanazawa and Hiroshima. You will save money and be flexible this way.
The JR Pass also covers travel back to the airport.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
