Hello,

I would like to take a train from Tokyo to Onomichi. I'm going from Onomichi to Imabari by bike.
From Imabari, I'm going by train to Kyoto and then back to Tokyo. We have planned to travel more than 7 days.

Is it a good idea to take the JR rail pass? And then the 7 days or 14 days pass?

And we saw the rail pass is not valid for any seats on “NOZOMI” and “MIZUHO” trains on the Tokaido, Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen lines. Does this apply on our trip?

Many thanks,
Marjolein

Hi Marjolein,

A 7 day JR Pass would be a very good option if you can include Tokyo - Onomichi and Kyoto - Tokyo within its validity period.

You can use use the Hikari and Sakura Shinkansen on the same routes as the Nozomi/Mizuho, so you won't have problems there.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
