My boyfriend and I are visiting Japan in November, and we have some questions regarding the Japan Rail Pass vs. the Regional Pass:
Our schedule is:
November 8th-16th: Tokyo
November 16th-21st: Kyoto
November 21st-29th: Tokyo
Would it be best to buy a 7-day Japan Rail Pass or a 5-day regional pass? In case of the latter; which one should we choose?

Hi Sofie,
There's no regional pass that covers the route Tokyo - Kyoto and back using the Tokaido Shinkansen. This is by fast the fastest way and as such I recommend using a 7 day Japan Rail Pass.

Hi Daniel,
We are (of course) also traveling from and to the Narita Airport. But isn't is better to buy the 7-days pass rather than the 21-days pass, since we are not traveling more between cities in Japan?
Also, do you know if it is possible to purchase tickets for the N'EX-trains when we arrive to Narita Airport, or do we need to book these from home like the Japan Rail Pass?
