Hi, my sisters and I will travelling to Japan about 6 days. We are planning to stay in Tokyo 2 days, Kyoto 2 days and Osaka 2 days. Is it the best choice to buy JR pass to travel these 3 cities?

Also, we will be going around Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka during those days we stay there. Do we have to purchase another local train tickets?
As I searched a lot of information and it said JR pass not include for using train inner cities. So it means I have to purchase JR pass and local train tickets separate if I go around Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka right!
Thanks a lot

Hi there,

The JR Pass does include local trains in cities like Tokyo and Osaka and will get you to most area's in either cities. That said, it is the longer routes where the JR Pass will really help you make savings.

After Osaka, will you go back to Tokyo or fly out from Osaka? This because a JR Pass works well if you make a return Tokyo <-> Osaka but it costs less to buy normal tickets if you travel one way.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi,

We thought about flying out from Osaka but probably we will go back to Tokyo and fly from there. As your information, I understand the JR Pass work now.

Thanks a lot for your help
