Hello, i would like some advice to my trip.
I'm planning to buy the 14day JR pass, so it is better to buy the Hakone free pass and activate the 14d JRP only on the day 3 ?

day1 arrive at Narita, then to Hakone
d2 hakone
d3 hakone to kyoto
d8 kyoto, stop at himeji, then to Hiroshima
d11 hiroshima to osaka
d14 osaka to kawazu
d15 kawazu to tokyo
d16-21 tokyo

Thank you!!

Hi there,

I do think it makes sense to activate the JR Pass at a later date when you have two days to spend in Hakone. Especially since you can start using the pass from Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Rest of your trip looks great too!

Hope this helps,
Daniel

so, you'd recommend to use the hakone free pass first, from shinjuku to hakone, and the JR pass only when leaving hakone?

Yup! That's what I'd do!
