Hi,

I would be traveling to Japan from Singapore this coming July 28, 2017 - August 5, 2017

I am confused until now if I need to purchase the JR Pass as I will be traveling from Tokyo to Osaka but not roundtrip.

My itinerary is

July 28 - arrive at Haneda 10pm
july 29 - explore tokyo
july 30 - tokyo nearby cities
july 31 - explore tokyo
aug 1 - explore tokyo
aug 2 - tokyo to osaka bullet train - kyoto
aug 3 - explore kyoto
aug 4 - explore osaka
aug 5 - explore osaka - Kansai airport back to Singapore

Is it worth to buy the 7 day and activate it on day 3?

Thank you so much in advance. Hope someone can enlighten me if I can make big savings or not.

Hi there,

A Japan Rail Pass makes sense if you make a return Tokyo <-> Kyoto/Osaka. You'll travel one way and it would be more economic to buy normal tickets for your trip.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Kind regards,
Daniel
