Hi, We are arriving in tokyo on the 22nd evening at Narita airport. Is it possible to use the JR Pass for the following travels from:
1. Narita to Akihabara station.
2. Akhibara to Tokyo Disney Sea n Back.
3. Tokyo to Kurashiki.
4. Kurashiki to Osaka.
5. Osaka city to osaka Airport.

Please suggest if the JR Pass is suitable for the above journeys.

Hi there,

The most expensive fares in your route are:

Tokyo - Kurashiki ¥ 17,340
Kurashiki - Osaka ¥ 6,980

They are below the cost of a 7 day JR Pass (29,110). As such, I would buy normal tickets. A JR Pass does cover all of these trips.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Many thanks for your information. Please suggest if we could use JR Pass for local travel in tokyo like both side travel of disneyland from akihabara and also like going to the tokyo Sky tree etc.
Same way for the local travel in osaka.

Hi again,

The JR Pass can be used on the local JR Network in Tokyo and Osaka, most area's are covered by the JR Pass like Disneyland (maihama station), Akihabara, Shinjuku and so on. Tokyo Skytree does need additional travel using the metro.

For suggestions on what to do in each city, please have a look at:

I think you'll like it.

Kurashiki does not really have that much to do other than the old town. Though there's a nice shopping mall behind the station where you could spend a bit of time with the kids. If you have some time in Kurashiki, I'd recommend taking a local train to Takamatsu. You travel over the Seto-Ohashi bridge to Shikoku, it is a wonderful sight crossing the bridge and seeing the small islands of Shikoku. In in Takamatsu you could head to the castle park and Ritsurin Koen (Japanese Garden style park) before going back.

Hey Daniel,

Sorry to bother you again.. In addition to the above i d like to know if there's a direct train connection from Narita airport to Akhibara Station, and is it covered under JR Pass. In that case when we arrive in tokyo, and we validate our 7 day ticket on 22nd March until when is it valid. Coz we would prefer to use it from inter city travels also, and our last tarvel would be on 28th evening from kurashiki to osaka.

Awaitng to hear from you soon.

Hi Shruti,

For travel to Akihabara, take the Narita Express to Tokyo station, then the JR Yamanote line to Akihabara.

23rd we have a free day to go around, would love to take your suggestions on things to do in tokyo. Can we do a day trip to Mt. Fuji?23rd we have a free day to go around, would love to take your suggestions on things to do in tokyo. Can we do a day trip to Mt. Fuji? You could do a visit to Fuji, think of Kawaguchiko or Hakone.

27th n 28th we have free days in Kurashiki, i m wondering if we could do a day trip to hiroshima? Definitely, I'd recommend doing so if you have a free day. You can split your time between Hiroshima and Miyajima before going back to Kurashiki.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
