Hi,
I am traveling to Japan July 13 to July 24. Will be staying in Shibuya-ku until the 21st then want to take a train to Hiroshima and spend two nights there. Will return to Shibuya-ku on the 23rd. What type of rail pass do I need? What is the cost? And how far in advance can I purchase this?

Hi Gary,
I recommend using the 7-day JR Pass, this is the cheapest option that will cover your trip and will give you good savings at the same time. You could use it for additional travel as well, like local JR lines in Tokyo and to the airport.
I would order at least 2 weeks in advance.
