Hi, we are a family of 3, with my son that just turn 6 years old, and we are planning to spend 10 days in Japan. We are going to spend 5 days in Tokyo and 4 in Kyoto, then back to Tokyo to fly back home. Is the Japan rail pass our best option for transportation or is better buy individual tickets?
Thank you
Rail pass suggestions
Hello there,
The 7 day JR Pass is a good option for your trip, the cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen trains. Now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price.
A JR Pass would also make it easier if you'd like to make a day trip from Tokyo or Kyoto. Just get on the train, show your JR Pass and there you go.
The JR Pass can also be used for the local JR Network in Tokyo and travel to the airport.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
