Hello,

I am researching if the JR West Kansai WIDE Area Pass will work for me. I have two legs of the journey that I am researching for my trip in April.

I want to go from Kinosaki Onsen to Amanohashidate by way of Toyooka. The first part of this from Kinosaki Onsen to Toyooka is on Ltd. Express Kinosaki 12 and I know that I can reserve tickets on JR WEST website for this. After I would transfer to the Ltm Express Tango Relay 4 at Toyooka onto Amanohashidate and for this I am unable to find out where to purchase individual tickets or reserve seats (the Willerexpress.com website for the Tango Railway doesn't sell tickets for this as far as I can tell) So this is why I'm thinking of going the JR West Kansai WIDE Area Pass.

The pass may also help me on my second journey:
From Amanohashidate to Kyoto. In my research on JR West website it shows Ltd. Express Hashidate 4 offers a direct route but I am unable to purchase tickets for it on that site and do not know where I can prebook them online.

Am I able to use the JR West Kansai WIDE Area Pass for all of these routes? Is there any way to pre reserve the seats online or do I have to wait until I am in Kyoto or Kinosaki Onsen or Amanohashidate to reserve my seats. I'm afraid that the route I'm interested in from Kinosaki Onsen to Toyooka to Amanohashidate only has 5 mins transfer time in Toyooka and since I don't speak Japanese that I won't have time to get the tickets from Toyooka to Amanohashidate.

If I calculate out the cost, the pass isn't any more of a savings for me since I won't be using it that much, but since I can't figure out where to pre purchase some of these legs I'm thinking that it may help with getting tickets. I just have to figure out how I an reserve seats ahead of time, hopefully online.
Thank you for any help and insights

Hi there,

All of your itinerary can be accessed with the Kansai WIDE Area Pass. However, I've looked online and it seems that tickets for the Akamatsu Tango Trains can be booked here.

Note that if you do plan on purchasing the Pass then you'd have to wait until exchanging it before you could reserve tickets. For more info on the Kansai WIDE Pass click here.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your help Alexis. However, I'm not interested in the Akamatsu Tango Train (between Amanohashidate and Nishimaizuru), I'm interested in the Ltm Express Tango Relay (Toyooka and Amanohashidate). They go in opposite directions from Amanohashidate. It seems like I'll have to wait until I'm there to prebook these local trains.
