Hi. Apologies if this has been asked before.
My wife and I are visiting Japan between the 15th and 29th of Feb. 4 nights Tokyo, 3 nights Kyoto, 6 nights Hakuba and one last night in Tokyo before we fly out again.

I’d appreciate advice on my plan wrt JR Pass:
- Buy 7 day JR Pass but only activate it on the 16th of Feb so that it can be used in Tokyo, from Tokyo to Kyoto, in Kyoto, and from Kyoto to Hakuba. We can use the JR pass to get to Hakuba, right? - Buy a N’Ex ticket to get to Shinjuku on the 15th (so not using the JR Pass) - Buy a separate ticket(s) to get from Hakuba to Tokyo - Buy separate tickets to get from Ginza to Narita for out departing flight.

Or, by activating the JR Pass on the 16th, would it be better to buy a 14 day JR pass?
Is it worth buying the Green JR Pass?

I’d really appreciate any and all advice or other ideas on how to get around.

Thank you!

Hi there,

The 7-day JR Pass + one way Hakuba - Tokyo is likely the better option compared to a 14-day JR Pass. Then use local tickets for your last days around Tokyo.

For Green Pass, it is worth it if you prefer to travel in extra comfort and quiet. Though certainly not required.

Kind regards,
Daniel
