Hi there,

You can use the JR Pass to Nagano, which has good access to Tokyo and Kyoto. Yudanaka is sort of an extension from Nagano but this part is not covered by the JR Pass. For using the JR Pass, plan going to/from Nagano station and add the cost of travel to Yudanaka as a separate fare. Using local trains, it is around 1.200yen/one way.

All the rest is covered by the JR Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
