Making seat reservations

We arrive late afternoon on 19 October at Haneda (Term 3) I understand there is a JR office on 2F. We will activate our 21 day Japan green car passes to begin 21 October. Our first destination from Tokyo Station will be Aizu-wakamatsu and from there on the 24th to Fukushima. In all, we have 5 more major stops spanning the remainder of our 21 days. My question is this: will it annoy the train agent to make all these seat bookings at once!! Should we just book our first stop and then book the rest as we go along? Will there be a JR office at all train stations where JR line reaches?
If we wait to book seats at the Tokyo Station office, the day before we leave, are we taking a chance of not being able to get a reserved seat in the green car?
A lot of questions!! Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Sheila,

If a JR agent feels annoyed by having to book 5 trips, then they have taken the wrong job. Don't worry about making some requests that you paid for. Having said that, if there is a long queue of other passenger waiting, then you may want to be considerate and make the reservations at any other station or ticket window.

Bringing a printed list of all routes that you want to visit, together with travel times and train numbers, would be a big help for the JR Staff and speed up the process immensely.

During normal times, trains rarely sell out, so you don't have to worry about this. In case you travel during high season like Obon or new year, then we suggest booking 3-4 days in advance.

Hope this helps :)

Daniel-san,
Thanks so much for your reply. I will heed your advice about a list. I used the JR app to look at routes, times, train numbers, etc and do have a list, which should make the process proceed more quickly. I will be mindful of a queue as well, thanks.
As I mentioned, I am leaving soon and will not be in Japan over any holidays. I understand fall foliage season is popular, when we are going, but it is spread over several months.
Again, thanks!
Sheila
