Hello!

I'll be going to Japan from April 20 to May 3 so I will be getting the 14-day pass for my Fiancee and I. We are very excited! We will be landing into NRT and immediately traveling to Kyoto for a few days, then Osaka, Kobe, and back to Tokyo. Right now I do have a few questions...

  1. If I order it online now, will it be redeemable in April since it is a few months away? Or is it better to purchase right before I need it?

  2. What is the difference between Ordinary and Green (First) Class?

Hi there,

1.) A JR Pass will need to be activated within 3 months after purchase. Depending on when in April you travel, it may be better to wait a little bit. At least until next month.

2.) Two keywords: Comfort and Quiet. Train seats are more comfortable and have more space and in general a lot less people travel Green Class, making for a much more relaxed experience.
