Kids under 5 - how to purchase JR pass

How to purchase JR pass for a kid under 5YO and if no pass is needed how the kid can get seat in the train? Do I need to purchase any other pass before leaving for Japan?

Hi there,

You can find the details on child passes here:

Basically, children below the age of 6 can travel for free but are not entitled to a seat. You can purchase a child pass if you want to be secure of seating.
