Hi we are travelling from Tokyo to Kyoto on the 26th Dec for 4 nights (doing a day trip out to Hiroshima whilst there) than on the 30th Dec we need to get to Hakuba. I believe we have to make some changes at Nagoya than on to Nagano and Bus into Hakuba. We may do some day trips from there as well. So does the JR pass work on these lines or are we better off to go back to Tokyo and train straight to Nagano? And is it worth getting a 7 day pass starting from the 26th?

Cheers
Paula

Hello Paula,

The JR Pass covers travel between all these places (outside of the bus to Hakuba) and will you also make great savings compared to purchasing normal tickets.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
