Good day!

I have a hard time to find the answers for my corners , hope you can help me out !

So I plan to visit Japan in 9 days from 27th Mar to 4th April.

I will arrive at FUK airport - HIRO - OSAKA - travel to KYOTO within a day and back to OSAKA- fly back to my country from OSAKA airport.
It's quite many destinations so I want to use Shin - not traditional train or ferry for the shortest time.

So I checked the 7 JR days pass T&C, and wonder:

1 ) Since JP can't be used for Shinkansen Mizuho, Nozomi. Is there any other Shinkansen from Fuk - Hiro like Sakura so I can use the JP rail pass. Same inquiry with my other routes (from HIRO - OSAKA; from OSAKA <-> KYOTO)
2) is there any other Pass choice for those areas only (no need All Japan pass) which is cheaper? I see the Pass for east, west... but frankly, I have no idea about that :))

Hi there,

1.) Yes, you can use the Sakura Shinkansen from Hakata to Hiroshima. Same going to Osaka. Then between Osaka - Kyoto, you can use the Hikari or Kodama Shinkansen.

2.) Have a look at the Sanyo-San'in Area Pass by JR West. This pass covers the same area as you travel and costs less. Only between Osaka - Kyoto would you have to use local trains instead of the Shinkansen but this trip only takes about 30 minutes. This pass does include the Nozomi/Mizuho, so all together it may be a better fit.
