J Pass or not and Itinerary

Hi Team,

I wanted to get advice about if a J pass makes sense with my Itinerary.

23rd Jan Arrive Narita 8am

23rd Jan Nozawa Onsen ( Nagano Station)

3rd Feb Kyoto

8th Feb Tokyo

I did the calculator and it said a J pass didn't make financial sense and to book individual tickets. However I did that last year and a one way ticket from Tokyo to Nagano cost $200+ AUD one way.

Appreciate your help.

Hi there,

A 7 day JR Pass would have made sense if you did Tokyo - Nozowa- Kyoto - Tokyo in one week but a 14 day JR Pass would need a bit more travel to be cost efficient. As such you are right in the middle and using normal tickets would work out better.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
