Seniors coming September for 12 days..to Tokyo...will stay 4 days In Tokyo
But wish to buy7 days Rail Pass to go to Hiroshima, and do Kyoto, Osaka, Hakone (Mt Fuji) and return to Tokyo, although can fly Back from Osaka.
Thinking 2 days Hiroshima (7-hour Travel) or To Kyoto stay 2 days ,day trip to Osaka, then 2 days Hiroshima and back to Osaka or Kyoto,,and back to Tokyo via Hakane...Help unravel...Im tolf Hotels are less expensive if purchased in Japan.?

It is certainly possible to include a visit to Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and return to Tokyo before it expires. You could do something like Kyoto 3 Nights, Hiroshima 1 Night, Osaka 2 nights and return to Tokyo on the last day of the JR Pass. Doing it like this will also make sure that you don't have a lot of travel on one way. For instance doing Tokyo - Hiroshima in one day is more than 6 hours but now you would not spend more than 3 hours on the train for any given day.
I recommend booking hotels in advance, prices are not cheaper in Japan as a general rule.
