Hello Daniel,

We will be visiting Japan for the first time in September and we are getting familiar with Hyperdia. However, how would we be able to place the correct train stations if we are not sure which station is nearest to the places that we will be visiting? I used google maps for directions and got the ending stations and entered in hyperdia, would that be the best way to know what stations to select? We would like to use Hyperdia instead of google maps because hyperdia will give us routes using JR lines.

We will be using the meet and greet service. Would it be helpful to have our itinerary printed out on hyperdia or google maps?

Thank you,
Mary

Hi Mary,

Yes, that's how I do it. Use Google Maps to find the closest JR Station. Then use the station name in Hyperdia.

If you plan to book your trips at the JR Ticket window in one go, then it is best to use Hyperdia or write them out. As Google Maps does not show all trains covered by the JR Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
