Haneda-Kyoto using Tokaido Shinkansen

Hello,

Is it still possible to use the JR Pass to travel from Haneda to Kyoto via Shinagawa Station?

The route uses the Tokaido Shinkansen line, which appears to be a Nozomi-class train. On this site it says that the JR Pass does not cover travel on Nozomi class trains.

However, on the map of routes on which the JR Pass can be used, the Tokaido Shinkansen is listed.

I'm a bit confused here and would appreciate some help. Is it indeed possible to use the JR Pass to travel from Haneda Airport to Kyoto via Shinagawa on the Tokaido Shinkansen line or not?

If it is not possible, is there some other way to get to Kyoto from Haneda that would be possible with the JR Pass?

Thank you for the help.

Hi there,

Yes, you can travel this route using the JR Pass. While Nozomi train services are not covered, you can use any Hikari services from Shinagawa - Kyoto station using the JR Pass. The Hikari travels the same route as the Nozomi but stops at a couple more stations.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
