Do I need a 7 or 14 day JR pass?

Hello,

I am visiting Japan in November and am wondering what would be more economically smart: to get a 7 day or 14 day pass?

I plan on visiting tokyo for 5 days, then spend a few days in kyoto, and then visit Osaka.

Would it make more sense to get 7 days? And then buy individual tickets for some journeys?

Hi there,

I'd consider a 7-day JR Pass, IF you will make a return trip Tokyo - Osaka using the Shinkansen trains (and complete this within the 7 day period).

Then in Tokyo, local tickets will likely be sufficient - we also recommend getting a card like Suica.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hey Daniel,

Thanks for your response. So we have a total of 14 days in Japan.
This time will be split across tokyo kyoto and osaka.

So from your message i guess its best for me to buy the 14 day pass?
