Hi there,

My son and I are going to Tokyo next August.
4 days Tokyo
2 days Kyoto
2 days Osaka
And going back for Tokyo, stay 2 days and we're going back to Amsterdam.

I understand it's beter to buy Suica card to discover Tokyo.

Should I buy JR card for all Japan to travel to Osaka and Kyoto from Japan?
Or should I buy JR regional Pass only?

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I do recommend getting a 7 day Japan Rail Pass. You can use this to travel to both Kyoto, Osaka and back to Tokyo. The cost of a 7 day JR Pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Osaka, now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price.

You can then use a Suica card for the remaining days in Tokyo.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi there,

You can charge the Suica with any amount, I'd say start with 2.000yen or so and see how that goes. You can charge it anywhere.

You can use the Japan Rail Pass from Shinjuku (JR) to Narita Airport using the Narita Express.
