  • 12-13 dec Koyasan
  • 13 - 18 dec Kyoto
  • 18-20 dec Takayama
  • 20 - 21 Dec Hakone
  • 21 - 26 Tokyo (Leaving from Haneda airport) `From these locations we are planning to do day trips to close buy locations, some of them are; Miyoyima Island, Kobe, Nara, arashiyama, shirakawa

Could you please advise regarding transportation.

Hi there,

The JR Pass will cover travel to all the cities you want to travel but you may need additional travel within travel. Additionally, local travel to Koya-san, Shirakawago, and Hakone.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your reply
Regarding Koya-san, I was thinking to purchase the Koyasan World Heritage Ticket.
Regarding Hakone, I read regarding the Hakone Free pass, but don't know if it will be beneficial for us as we only going for one night.

My boyfriend is from Panama and he required a visa, they provided him the (V) as temporary visitor, but it's a double entry one.
Even though we are only going now from 6 dec to 26 dec, we can't purchase the JR rail pass for him?`
What are the other options?

Thanks again for your reply

Hi again,

Koya-san will likely help you save a bit of money, though nothing massive. The Hakone Free Pass is great value if you plan to do the Hakone circle.

Your BF would be fine getting a railpass (and there's still ample of time to get him one).

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thank for your quick reply,
I read that at the moment Hakone free pass is not offered due to typhoon. Do you think it will be back by december?
I'm debating a 14 day or 21 day pass.
14 day will give us from dec 7 hiroshima until dec 20 Hakone ( using the JR pass to travel from Takayama to Hakone ( stopping in Odawara)
From here i though we can se the Hakone free pass to Travel to ToKyo. As we finishing our stay in Tokyo from 21 dec - 26 dec.

Meaning we save about $300 buying a 14 day pass instead of 21 day pass. As for traveling around in Tokyo it is mainly metro no?

I'm not sure, its best to keep an eye out on the Odakyu webste (the Hakone Free Pass company).

The urban JR Network around Tokyo is quite extensive, think Yamanote line, Chuo line and many others. These will get you to many area's around Tokyo but do not provide full coverage. It will depend on where you want to go.

Thanks Daniel,

Any suggestions regarding suica or pasmo card? As i see there is not much difference only that Pasmo returns your full deposit.
On your website, only advise is pocket wifi. Any recommendations regarding SIM Cards,

Thanks in advance again
