Hello,
I am travelling for the first time to Japan with my partner in August. We will be in Japan for two weeks. I'm hoping I could get some advice on JR passes, two week pass or 7 days? Regional passes? Is it best to pre-purchase in Australia? What is the best way to do the following?

Itinerary:
Land in Tokyo, Narita, stay Shiyuba
Day 1-4 (4 Nights Tokyo)
Day 4-8 Train to Kyoto (4 Night Kyoto) + day trips to Nara etc
Day 8-10 Train to Osaka (2 Nights Osaka)
Day 11 Train to Hiroshima (overnight stay)
Day 12 Miyajima (Day trip) + Train to Tokyo
Day 13 Tokyo
Day 14 To Narita Airport

Appreciate any help! And other tips if you have any :)

Thanks in advance,
Sophia

Hello Sophia,

I recommend traveling with a 14 day JR Pass here. You'll make good use of the JR Pass with travel to the Kansai Area (Kobe, Osaka, Nara) and to Hiroshima, before returning to Tokyo. A nice bonus is that the JR Pass also includes the ferry to Miyajima.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
