I'm planning a trip from Tokyo, 8 days, hakone 1 day, Kyoto 5 days. Was wondering if the JRPASS can be used on all the lines or would i have to pay for certain trains?

Hi there,

The JR Pass covers travel between all these places, however you may still need to pay for local transport. Such as on the Tokyo Metro or locally within Hakone. Will you also be traveling somewhere after Kyoto?

Hope you find this useful,
Daniel

Arigatou Daniel-san,

My itinerary is pretty detailed but it follows like this:
Tokyo -
Imperial garden, Ginza, Akihabara
Tsukiji Fish Market, Odaiba, Tokyo Tower
Tokyo National Museum, Asakusa
Ghibli Museum, Shibuya,
Harajuku, Meiji Shrine, Shinjuku
Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka

That is our itinerary. I am not sure which would use the JR and which would not.

Any help you can provide with this Daniel-San.

Hello Rob,

I recommend using maps.google.com, this way you can search the places you want to go to and find the closest station on the map.

All these places, outside of Asakusa have a JR station close by.

Generally the station names are the same as the cities or districts, like Tokyo station, Harajuku and Shinjuku. You can walk to Tsukiji and Imperial gardens from Tokyo station.

The Shinkansen station for Hakone is called Odawara.

Hope you find this helpful,
Daniel

Thanks a lot Daniel this was a lot of help.

I really appreciate it and i will make sure i do my research to ensure that i get to my spots as efficiently as possible. I'm sure there will be some dispensation for traveling on certain routes but will be approx. 200YEN or so which isn't bad.

Thanks again Danial-san.

Rob
