Hi all,
I will be travelling to Japan from 9th Sept, arriving at Osaka, until 18th Sept, leaving via Tokyo.
My current itinerary is as such:
9th: Reach Kansai International Airport at night, train to accommodation in Osaka, rest
10th: Day trip to Kyoto, return to Osaka at night
11th: Day trip to Kobe, return to Osaka at night
12th: Explore Osaka in the morning, Head towards Takayama around noon, staying at Takayama
13th: Explore Takayama, leave around noon towards Tokyo, staying in Tokyo
14th: Day trip to Nikko, accommodation still in Tokyo
15th-17th: Mostly Tokyo, going to Mt. Takao and also Odaiba
18th: Accommodation -> Narita airport, leave Tokyo
Currently, I am planning to buy the following pass:
1)3day Kansai pass from 9th - 11th, to cover:
- KIX Airport to Osaka
- day trip to Kyoto and back
- day trip to Kobe, Nara and back
- general travel within Osaka
2) 7day JR Pass (the ~30,000JPY one) from 12th-18th to cover:
- Osaka to Takayama, Takayama to Tokyo
- Day trip to Nikko and back
- Travel within Tokyo
- Train ticket to Narita airport
Please advise if the passes I intend to buy are indeed able to cover the trips. Also, will the trips justify the cost of the passes?
This is the first time I am considering JR Pass as previous visit I did not travel to so many places. Thank you so much for the help in advance!
