Hi there just got confused as I am planing to go from Tokyo to Yudanaka ,depart at 11:44 hrs. and another day leaving from Yudanaka to Takayama at 07:48 hrs. .My last day will depart from Takayama to Tokyo at 12:33 hrs. I am thinking to buy JR pass but got confused that all are covered in JR just including Nagano Electric Railway for Shinshunakano , Nagano Electic Railway Ltd. exp ,Shinkansen Hakutaka ?

If you can help to answer all my question , it would be amazing .

Thank you so much

Hi May,

The JR Pass covers most of the trip to Yudanaka, however the last part from Nagano to Yudanaka is not included. This is because the Nagano Electric Railway is a private railway company. The Shinkansen Hakutaka is covers by the JR Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi there,

I think the best option here, would simply be to use normal tickets as you travel. This because the price of normal tickets is below the price of a JR Pass and the JR East Pass does not cover travel to Takayama and the Nozomi Shinkansen from Nagoya.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
