Hello!

It'll be my first time to travel to Japan and I've been doing some reading about the JR East Pass as I'll be attending Fuji Rock for 1 day

I will be in Japan from July 25-29, and my itinerary is below:

July 25 - From Narita airport head to Asakusa

July 26 - Tokyo station to Echigo-Yuzawa for Fuji Rock.

July 27-29 - Sightseeing in Tokyo (Harajuku, Abbey Road Tokyo Minato, Shibuya, Asakusa, Ginza, etc)

Will it be worth it to purchase the JR EAST pass and will it cover most of the places I'm going while i'm in Tokyo?

Thank you very much!

Hello there,

For your itinerary it would be better to buy normal tickets as you travel. A one way ticket Tokyo - Echigo-Yuzawa is ¥ 6,150 and you would have to do a considerable amount more of travel for a JR (East) Pass to pay off.

The Pass does cover most travel you plan to do!

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you very much Daniel-san!

Thats really helpful!

One last question, what kind of pass should i get that covers the train and bus travel around tokyo? The idea of the pass for me is actually not spend cash on transport while i'm in japan and take advantage of advance purchase and just swipe to use so i can budget my other expenses.

Thanks again!
