Hi,

We are planning our upcoming June trip to Japan and were wondering whether getting some type of the JR Pass would make sense?

Here is the itinerary:

Day 1 & 2- Tokyo
Day 3 - Day trip to Nikko
Day 4 - Tokyo
Day 5 - Overnight stay at Kinosaki Onsen
Day 6 - Kyoto
Day 7 - Day trip to Arashiyama and Sagano
Day 8, 9 & 10 - Kyoto area
Day 11 - Overnight stay at Mt. Koya

Day 12 - Osaka

Day 13 - Day Trip to Nara

Day 14 - Flight from Osaka to Okinawa
Day 16 - Flight from Okinawa to Tokyo Narita
Day 17 & 18 - Tokyo

My friend leaves on Day 18 and I then plan to travel either to Hokkaido or Toyama for 4 more days, but I haven’t planned that part yet.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :))

Hi there,

I added your first 7-days in our JR Fare Calculator it you'd be able to make savings using a 7-day JR Pass from Day 3 - Day 9.

From there you cover the most distance by flying, so a JR Pass would not be helpful after that.

Kind regards,
Daniel
