Hi Daniel-San,
I’m planning a 13-day trip from 20 December to 1 January. Can you recommend what are the passes that will be suitable for the following itinerary?

20/12- Kansai airport to Osaka city-stay a night
21/12- Osaka to Kyoto
22/12- Kyoto
23/12- Kyoto to Ainokura
24/12- Ainokura to Takayama
25/12- Takayama- day trip to hirayu onsen
26/12- Takayama to Tokyo
27/12- Tokyo to Fuji-kawaguchiko
28/12- kawaguchiko to Hakone
29/12 - Hakone to Tokyo
30/12-1/1 - Tokyo

Is it going to be a problem to travel on the 29 December as the new year holidays start?

Appreciate your help-can you see a better way to travel around?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I checked your itinerary but could not really find a good match for a pass that would cover your itinerary & provide you with good savings. For now I think buying normal tickets would be the best way to go.

The period 28th dec - 2nd Jan is often very busy with nationals travelling for the New Year Holidays. It is advised to make reservations 3-4 days in advance. You could do so on the day that you arrive at any JR ticket window or travel centre.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
