Hey!

I am traveling to Japan during the dates listed above.

I will be arriving at Narita and staying in Tokyo May 8 thru 11
Going to Hakone overnight 11-12
Going to Kyoto 12-15
Returning to Tokyo/Narita airport for a flight at 1800 on the 15th

What is the difference between the green and general passes?

Since it is good for 7 days would you recommend starting it on the 12th?
Am I able to get to Hakone from using the pass ?

Can I get from Hakone to Kyoto?

Let me know. Thanks!

Hi there,

A 7 day pass makes sense if you can cover Tokyo - Hakone - Kyoto - Tokyo/Narita with it. It will be cheaper than buying normal tickets on this route and the pass would cover travel for the entire route, as well as local travel on JR lines in Tokyo, Kyoto and elsewhere.

The Shinkansen station for Hakone is called Odawara, you can get on the Shinkansen from there directly to Kyoto.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
