Hello,

We are traveling to Japan next September with my family. We will be staying in Tokyo but planning a trip to Hanamaki, Iwate specifically to Shin-Hanamaki Station.

Can we use the Rail Pass for this trip?

Also if we buy the rail pass for 7 days this will start to count only when we activate the pass from the first use right? Can be a 7 day pass in the middle of our 20 days trip, correct?

Thank you,

Nat

Hi there,

Yes, you can use the JR Pass to this trip.

For the JR Pass, yes and yes. The pass will count down in consecutive days after activation and can be started at any day that you are in Japan.

Depending on your travel, we also have a regional pass that might be a better fit. This is the JR East-South Hokkaido Rail Pass, it also covers travel to Shin-Hanamaki Station, gives you 6 days of travel that you can pick within a 14-day period and costs a bit less than the 7-day JR Pass.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
