Hi!

I'm planning a trip to Tokyo and Osaka with my kids and my family.
3 Adults, 2 kids ( 5 years old ), 1 senior ( 67 years old )
We will be buying the 7 days JR pass.

In additional do we need to buy SUICA pass for convenience sake?
Can the SUICA be used in Tokyo and Osaka?

Day 1: Haneda Airport to Shinagawa ( via Keiyo Line )
Day 2: Disneyland ( will activate JR pass )
Day 3: To Shinjuku as we book a tour
Day 4: To Osaka via Shinkansen
Day 5: Kyoto - Planning to take the romantic train, visit Arashiyama Bamboo, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizudera. I plan to rent Kimono too. Is this schedule packed?
Day 6: Nara
Day 7: Universal Studio
Day 8: Explore Osaka, or maybe Kids plaza
Day 9: Back to Nartia
Day 10: Home sweet home
Day 9:

thank you!

Hi there,

An IC card like Suica is always helpful, as you can use one to pay for nearly anything without having to using Cash.

Your plan looks good to me, your day trip in Kyoto does look busy to me and you will need to be traveling between various parts in the city. It would be possible but I recommend committing to a time schedule beforehand. I think 2 days would really have been nice for visiting Kyoto and seeing what you want to see.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel-san

Thank you for your reply!
Do you think is better to stay one night in Kyoto, and the next day proceed to explore Nara, and back to Osaka on the same day?

Hi again,

It won't make a big difference. Travel between Kyoto - Nara or Kyoto - Osaka is only 30 minutes and you could stay in either of these places and make side trips to all cities.
