Hi,

We will be travelling to Japan for 10 days in October and will have the below trip. I was thinking to get the JR pass for 7 days which would cover the starred trips and purchase remaining separately. From high level pricing indication seems like the most beneficial ? happy to hear if there are better passes covering this ?

  • airport transfer Narita > tokyo
  • Tokyo > Shizuoka
  • Shizuoka > Tokyo *
  • Tokyo > Kyoto *
  • Kyoto > Osaka *
  • Osaka > Miyajima/Hiroshima return *
  • Osaka airport transfer

thanks,
C

Hi there,

Yes, doing it like this makes sense. The route to Osaka and Hiroshima especially cost a lot without the JR Pass and you can make good use of the JR Pass like this.

You could consider using a highway bus from Tokyo - Shizuoka, to keep your travel cost low. Though it will take longer than the Shinkansen.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
