Hey there!

We are going on a two week trip to Japan and would like to see the following places:
Tokyo (2 days) - Hakone (1 day/stay 1 night in a traditional inn) - Takayama (2 days) - Kanazawa (2 days) - Kyoto (3 days) - Osaka (2 days) - Nara (1 day trip) - Tokyo (1 days and then flying out)

We are thinking about getting the 14day JR pass but we are not sure how it is best to get to Takayama and Kanazawa from Tokyo? Is it then possible to continue our trip from Takayama or Kanazawa to go to Kyoto-Osaka and Nara?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Many thanks,

Natalie

Hi Natalie,

You can use the Hokuriku Shinkansen directly from Tokyo to Toyama and from there use a ltd. express train to Takayama, or take the Shinkansen directly to Kanazawa. There is also a direct train from Kanazawa to Kyoto/Osaka, the Thunderbird express. I would suggest going to Kanazawa and then to Osaka for the easiest way of transport.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
