Hi!
We're traveling for our honeymoon to Japan in April this year.
And we are planning to stay there 10-11 days, but we're not sure if we should get a 7-days or a 14-days pass. Specially because we are planing to stay the last days just in Tokyo, so we're not sure if a 7-days pass is enough.
Please your recommendations based on our tentative itinerary below:

Day 1 - Tokyo (April 2nd)... Half day
Day 2 - Hiroshima - Miyajima ( April 3rd) ... Do you recommend this trip? How do we get there from Tokyo?
Day 3 - Kyoto - Nara (April 4th)
Day 4 - Kyoto - Osaka (April 5th)
Day 5 - Kyoto (April 6th)
Day 6 - Kyoto (April 7th)
Day 7 - Hakone - Mt Fuji (April 8th)... Or which is the best place to see the Mt Fuji from (nice town and landscape?)
Day 8 - Tokyo (April 9th) Day 9 - Tokyo (April 10th)
Day 10 - Tokyo (April 11th)
Day 11 - Tokyo (April 12th) ... Half day

Any other suggestion is more than welcome :)

Thanks!

Hi there,

Since you do all your long distance travel from Day 1 to Day 7, a 7-day JR Pass would be enough. You could then look at local options for travel around Hakone/Fuji, such as a Hakone Free Pass.

I do recommend a visit to Hiroshima and certainly Miyajima, that said it is quite a trip from Tokyo. So you'll have to ask yourself it you are up for it.

Getting from Tokyo to Hiroshima using the JR Pass: Take the Hikari Shinkansen from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka, then transfer to the Sakura Shinkansen to Hiroshima. The full route takes about 5-6 hours.

Hope this helps :)
Daniel
