Hello,
We have the following itinerary, can you please tell us which JR pass is best for us?
We would also need suggestion on what train to take, and the cost saving between JR pass (ordinary) or JR Green or No pass at all?

We are travelling with 4 adults, 4 seniors (over 70) and 2 children (age 8 and 11)

2/14 Thursday arrive in Tokyo Shinjuku from Narita
2/17 Saturday Travel early morning from Tokyo Shinjuku to Kyoto
2/18 Monday travel day trip from Kyoto to Hiroshima & Miyajima and then back to Kyoto
2/19 Tuesday travel late afternoon from Kyoto to Tokyo Shinjuku
2/20 Wednesday Travel day trip from Tokyo to Hakone back to Tokyo Shinjuku
2/21 Thursday Travel day trip from Tokyo Shinjuku to Yokohama back to Tokyo Shinjuku
2/22 Friday Travel from Tokyo Shinjuku to Narita for departure

Hi QL,

You would make very good savings with a Japan Rail Pass from day 2/17 to Friday 2/22. The 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto. Basically, all extra travel you do from this is what you save in money and that's a good bit!

For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.
