Dear,

I will travel for 8 days through Japan.
After arrival on Narita airport I will stay for 3 nights in Tokyo (and travel in tokyo during the days).
From Tokyo I will travel to Hakone where I stay for 1 night (and travel there with Hakone pass?).
From Hakone I will travel to Kyoto where I stay for 3 nights (and travel in Kyoto during the days).
From Kyoto I will travel to Kansai airport.

Do you have any advise?

thank you in advance,
Kind regards,
Quinten

Hi Quinten,

On what part are you looking for advice? In terms of rail tickets, I would buy normal tickets, as they will cost less than a JR Pass on this route. A JR Pass would have been good if used for a return to Tokyo. Using a Hakone Free Pass makes sense if you plan on doing the full Hakone route.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

thank you for your reply Daniel-san.
Indeed, the advice I needed was about wether to buy or not to buy the railway pass.
I am planning do travel travel a lot with public transport during my stay in tokyo and Kyoto.

Am I correct if I understand that you are saying that buying individual tickets for Sjinkansen and metro within the two cities is cheaper compared to using the railway pass?

thank you in advance!
