Mt. Fuji Tour vs. self guided mt Fuji

I am purchasing a 7-Day JR pass. I will be traveling with friends who are not purchasing the JR pass but want to go on the Mt Fuji Tour which includes rail tickets & lunch for around $200usd. Would it be prudent for them to just purchase the JR Pass and do a self guided tour with more freedom for a little extra money?

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

It depends where they would be coming from in Japan. There are however not that many JR lines around Fuji itself. Depending on where you want to go, using alternative or private transport may match your plan better.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
