We will be visiting in September and want to use a Sanyo San’in Regional Rail pass. Here is our proposed itinerary:
22: Koyoto to Amanohashidate
23: Amanohashidate to Tottori
24: Tottori to Yasugi
26: Yasugi to Hiroshima
Our only problem seems to be getting to and from Amanohashidate.
Can we take a JR train from Kyoto to Fukuchiyama on the 22nd using our pass, change to the JR Hashidate limited express (not covered) to go to Amanohashidate? If so, can we return to Fukuchiyama on the 23rd and use our pass on the JR Sanin Line to Tottori?
Is there a better way?

Hi there,

Going to Amanohashidate is indeed a bit of a tricky one, looking at the official map, it's the only part of the JR West area not covered (odd because other JR West passes do include it). Travel to Fukuchiyama is also not covered, so you'd likely look at buying a return ticket Kyoto - Amanohashidate and then travel on from Kyoto to Tottori using the pass. Quite inconvenient, unfortunately, I do not see a better way.

Kind regards,
Daniel
