This is our itinerary. Is it worth getting the JR Rail Pass for this trip? If it is worth getting, what is the best way to get from Kyoto to Nikko and from Nikko to Narita.
May 10 – Arrive in Japan, stay in Tokyo
May 12 – Leave Tokyo for Odawara, Hakone
May 14 – Odawara Station to Kyoto
May 16 – Kyoto to Himeji Castle and back
May 17 – Kyoto to Nikko
May 19 – Nikko to Narita

Hi Lil,
Yes, a JR Pass will certainly be worth it here and help you make good savings.
With the JR Pass you can use the Shinkansen to Utsunomiya, then use the JR Nikko line from there to Nikko. This is the fastest route.
Then to Narita Airport from Nikko, take the JR Nikko line back, then the Shinkansen to Tokyo station and finally the Narita Express to Narita Airport.
