Hi!

We still have 4 days that we can spend between Kyoto and Tokyo.

We thought about going to the Kiso Valley but we can not decide which itinerary is the best option.

Kyoto - Magome - Tsumago - Hakone - Tokyo => is this doable by JR Rail pass? And if yes: how?

Or should we skip a town to have a better itinerary?

All tips are welcome!

Thanks in advance!

Greetings,
Maja

Hi Maja,

Yes, this itinerary is definitely doable with the JR Pass.

You ask "how ?" but to answer a question with a question, what is the part you may have problems with. Perhaps this is useful: For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.

Also for Hakone, this is quite a big area try to narrow down where in Hakone you want to stay. This will be a big help planning your further trips.

Kind regards,
Daniel
